PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous gel-made heat insulating material whose surface is neither cracked nor dropped by vibration, or the like, and whose thickness and performance are stabilized. SOLUTION: This heat insulating material is obtained by incorporating a sol based on an alkoxysilane or acid-treated water glass into a support 2 being a reinforcing material on whose one side a sheet 3 is disposed and superimposed preliminarily, transforming the sol into wet gel, making the wet gel hydrophobic and drying the hydrophobic gel under the pressure and temperature equal to or lower than those of the critical point to form a lump of porous gel 1. |
