PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of fixing heat pipe by which a heat pipe can be fixed to a heat radiating member so that a high heat transferring characteristic may be obtained. SOLUTION: In this method, the heat pipe 1 is fixed to the heat radiating member 2 by arranging the pipe 1 in the heat-pipe fixing groove 3 of the member 2 and press-fitting the pipe 1 in the groove 3 by means of a punch 4. The punch 4 has a longitudinal recess at the central part of its heat-pipe pressing surface 5. Since the pressing surface 5 of the punch 4 is formed to have a recessed cross section, the metal flow of the pressed surface 7 of the pipe 1 in the radial direction is suppressed and the pressed surface 7 of the press-fitted pipe 11 in the groove 3 becomes flat. Consequently, a high heat transferring characteristic is obtained between the pipe 11 and heat radiating member 2. In addition, the inside of the pipe 11 does not become smaller. Therefore, a heating element, such as the CPU, etc., can be cooled efficiently by this method.
