PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic liquid absorbent having high absorbing capacity for an organic liquid, and light in weight and small in volume suitable for transportation, and sufficiently fulfilling the demands on weight, volume and profile shape compliance by absorbing an organic liquid in use, and to provide a method for producing the organic liquid absorbent. SOLUTION: This organic liquid absorbent is characterized by comprising an organic liquid-absorbing resin consisting of a water-insoluble resin with hydrophilic polar groups introduced thereinto. The other objective method for producing the above organic liquid absorbent is characterized by comprising packing an organic liquid-permeable bag-shaped body with the above organic liquid-absorbing resin.
