PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system that can appropriately update the information on a road. SOLUTION: A processing and control section reads out the information on a newly constructed road S to be displayed including the expected date of completion of the road S recorded on a CD-ROM at the time of generating a navigation image, etc. Then the section discriminates whether or not the expected date of completion has already elapsed with respect to the information on the newly constructed road S. Upon discriminating that the expected date of completion has already elapsed, the section generates a map image showing the newly constructed road S with solid lines similarly to already existing roads as shown in Fig. (a). Upon discriminating that the expected date has not elapsed yet, the section generates another map image showing the road (S) with broken lines so that the road (S) may be recognized as an uncompleted road as shown in Fig. (b). |
