PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a problem that both of conventional methods employing a timer or measuring a weight automatically can not detect a thawing condition properly. SOLUTION: A thawing device is provided with a heating means, a thawing detecting means, detecting the defrosting condition of a matter to be thawed as the change of the intensity of illumination of reflection light of far infrared rays from the surface of the matter to be thawed, and a control unit, controlling the heating means based on the detecting result the thawing detecting means.
