PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel oil composition which is improved in the color hue by using a regulator for the residual carbon content of a small asphaltene portion and also has a good low-temperature fluidity even when using a base material with a small ratio to the kerosene distillate largely demanded particularly in cold districts and with a higher pour-point. SOLUTION: The fuel oil composition satisfies the below items: (1) a fuel oil composition shall have a residual carbon content in the 10% residual oil of 1.5% by mass or less, a flash point of 60 deg.C or higher, a kinematic viscosity at 50 deg.C of 1.8-3.4 mm<2> /s, a cetane index of 35 or more, a clogging point of -4 deg.C or lower, a pour-point of -7.5 deg.C or lower, and the ASTM color of 3.0 or less; and (2) a fuel oil composition shall contain 10-50 vol.% of a light cycle oil(LCO), 30-70 vol.% of a straight-run light oil(LGO) and/or a hydrodesulfurized light oil(DGO), 5-30 vol.% of a kerosene (KERO) and 0.1-5.0 vol.% of a regulator for the residual carbon content of a small asphaltene portion.
