PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rare earth-activated fluorinated barium halide fluorescent substance which has no worsened performances in erasure and image-storage even after treated in a burning process. SOLUTION: The method for producing a rare earth-activated fluorinated barium halide fluorescent substance has a batch type burning process that a raw material mixture for the fluorescent substance is put to burn in a burning furnace and removed out of the furnace, which is then prepared for the next raw material mixture to put, comprising a cleaning process between a burning process and the next one so that a substance adhering to the burning furnace may be removed or inactivated.
