Dyes of formula:- (where R is a monovalent organic gp. A and b each is a diazocomponent gp. contg. X1 or X2 in o-position to N; X1 and X2 each is a metal-bonding substituent, Z in water is an acid-dissociating salt-forming water-solubilising gp; Y is a pyrimidylamino gp. where pyrimidyl gp. contains >=1 reactive F and is opt. further substd.; ME is a heavy metal of atomic no. 24-29 pref. Cu; m is +ve integer 1-5, n is + ve integer =2) are prepd. by coupling a metallisable cpd. (X1H)A-NH-N=CRCOOH (a) with an agent introducing ME and (b) with an aryldiazonium cpd. of an amine X2H-B-NH2 contg. X2H vicinal to amino gp., and choosing components so as to contain 1-5Z gps. together and at least 1Y gp. Dyes are used for dyeing and printing organic materials, esp. natural and regenerated cellulose and polyamides, in red-blown to blue and green shades.
