PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device constituted such that the occurrence of jamming can be accurately detected and the jammed sheet can be pulled out in the case the sheet sticks out partly of the fixing device or in the case the sheet winds around the fixing device and a part of the sheet does not stick out of the fixing device. SOLUTION: A part of a fixing unit 90 incorporating a fixing roller 9A and a pressure roller 9B is composed a cover 90A which can be opened/closed, the jammed state of the sheet is distinguished by sheet detecting sensors 20 and 21 positioned on the sheet guiding side and the sheet discharging side in the fixing unit 90. The device is provided with a control part 11 for giving the selective warning either of the situation that the jammed sheet can be pulled out only by opening the device where the fixing unit 9 is housed or the situation necessary to pull out not only the device but also the fixing unit 90 so as to pull out the sheet lying in the fixing unit. |
