PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the quality of material identification system for plastic capable of identifying the quality of material of plastic even if mixed substances containing several kinds of plastic are carried without orientating the substances in a carrying means. SOLUTION: This identification system is equipped with a carrying means for carrying the mixed substances containing several kinds of plastic; an irradiation means for applying near infrared to the mixed substances carried with the carrying means; an imaging member having three or more kinds of band- path filters having different wavelengths in which reflected light from the mixed substances irradiated with the near infrared is incident; and an identification means for comparing the amounts of reflected light in the region of the imaging member based on the same kind of plastic of the regions of the imaging member in which the reflected light from each plastic within the near infrared irradiation region of the mixed substances is incident through three or more kinds of band- pas filters, and for identifying the quality of material of plastic in the mixed substances from the difference between the amounts of reflected light.
