摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a resonance type optical modulator which bas small electric power and high modulation effect by providing constitution which is easy to manufacture, but never loses an electric field applied to an optical path and effective to modulation. SOLUTION: This resonance type optical modulator, using the asymmetrical electrode, includes optical paths 10, 11, and 12 which have electrooptic effect characteristics, a 1st stub [open stub (open end type asymmetrical coplanar waveguide) or short stub 4 (short-circuit end type asymmetrical coplanar waveguide)], a 2nd stub (open stub or short stub) connected to the 1st stub, a wire connected between the 1st and 2nd stubs, and common electrodes 6 and 7 and is characterized by that the 1st stub and 2nd stub are formed along a single optical path and constitute a modulating electrode for applying an electric field to the optical path.</p>
