PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition similar to hard polyvinyl chloride resin materials in flame-retardancy, in mechanical strength, and in hardness, but not generating halogen compounds during combustion. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a high-density polyethylene, and 45-100 pts.wt. of a phosphorus-based flame retardant and 10-30 pts.wt. of an isocyanuric derivative blended thereinto. To the 100 pts.wt. of the high- density polyethylene, 1-5 pts.wt. of hydrotalcite may be added for a good result.
