PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a porous silicon carbide sintered compact, by which the porous silicon carbide sintered compact having sufficient strength is manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method for the porous silicon carbide sintered compact includes a molding forming process for forming a silicon carbide molding containing at least silicon carbide powder and a binder, a dewaxing process for dewaxing the silicon carbide molding to produce silicon carbide dewaxed body and a sintering process for sintering the silicon carbide dewaxed body to manufacture the porous silicon carbide sintered compact. In the molding forming process, silicon carbide containing 0.1-5 wt.% SiO2 is used. |
