PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of analyzing protein or peptide as a method of analyzing the posttranslational modification of a protein efficiently without using an enzyme, which eliminates such a drawback that e.g. a phosphorylated amino acid cannot be distinguished and that a special installation or a dedicated apparatus is required, by which the modification part and the modification amount of the protein in a sample can be quantitatively analyzed and in which respective treatment stages are not increased for a quantitative determination. SOLUTION: A protein or a peptide to be analyzed is reacted with an acid (thioester or hydrazine) under a definite condition. As a result, various modification states of the protein or the peptide can be detected. The qualitative determination of a specific modification group and the position of a modified amino acid can be analyzed efficiently regarding the protein or the peptide by using a chemical method and a mass spectrometer. |
