PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a platinum-gold material which is dispersion-hardened by finely distributed fine particles composed of base-metal oxides and exhibits aging stability even a at high temperature exceeding 1,200 deg.C and has excellent deformation behavior. SOLUTION: The dispersion-hardened platinum-gold material having 0.005-1 mass% base-metal content is manufactured on the basis of heat treatment of a platinum-base metal alloy which contains, cerium on, a mixture comprising yttrium and zirconium and, if necessary, cerium, and in which at least 75 mass% of the base metal exists in the form of oxides and the base-metal oxides exist in tight form in an oxidizing medium. Accordingly, this material is suitable for use in the field of application requiring stability at high temperature, e.g. glass industry.
