PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple process for preparing a polyaniline soluble to water and organic solvents in a highly electrically conductive state, i.e., in a dope state. SOLUTION: This preparation process comprises steps wherein a polyaniline or its derivative is mixed and dispersed with a copolymer having, within the molecule, a segment (A) containing a group reactive with the polyaniline or its derivative and a segment (B) having at least one structure selected from the group consisting of structures of polyalkylene glycols, polystyrene derivatives, poly(meth)acrylic acid derivatives, poly(meth)acrylonitrile derivatives and polyethers.
