PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, print system, print control/image recording control method and a storage medium in which the function can be extended by making a function extension unit insertable into a space for containing a print medium, the printer can communicate with an imaging device without requiring any connection cable, and image data recorded in the imaging device can be taken into the printer. SOLUTION: The printer is arranged such that the imaging device can be inserted removably into the space for containing the print medium and comprises means 5 for electrical connection with the imaging device, a memory means 6 for recording image data, and a printer microcomputer 1 for executing printing on condition that data is inputted externally when a decision is made that a cartridge 200 is inserted into the print medium containing space and recording image data recorded in the imaging memory of the imaging device in the memory means 6 when a decision is made that the imaging device is inserted into the print medium containing space.
