PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transform a prescribed light intensity distribution into a required light intensity distribution, thus to decrease a wave front aberration and the spot diameter of a beam concerning a light intensity transforming device and an optical device. SOLUTION: The element is composed of a body 14 which has a first curved surface 16 extending in a horizontal direction with respect to a center axis line, a second curved surface 18 extending in a horizontal direction with respect to the center axis line, and a circumferential surface 20 which extends between the first curved surface and the second curved surface. The element is so composed that one of the first and the second curved surfaces has at least a shape of a recessed surface in the vicinity of the center and the other has at least shape of a projected surface in the vicinity of the center, at least one of incident light and an emitted light is a divergent light and/or a convergent light, and the incident light which has a Gaussian type light intensity distribution is transformed into an emissive light which has a light intensity distribution in which the light intensity at the central part is low and the light intensity at the peripheral part is high. |
