PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent printing being not normal as in the prior art in advance when a paper sensor does not operate by paper feeding operation. SOLUTION: When it is judged that the paper sensor is in an operation condition by a CPU (YES at S1), it is judged whether the paper sensor operates based on the paper feeding operation or not from holding information in a holding part (S6), and if the result of this judgement is NO, head alignment and search of head processing of paper sheets are performed because paper sheets are not fed normally (S7, S8). On the other hand, if the result of judgement at step S6 is YES, it is judged whether the paper feeding operation is based on a paper feeding command from a host computer or operation of a paper feeding button because paper sheets are fed normally (S11). If the paper feeding operation is based on the paper feeding command, the paper feeding operation ends to start usual printing operation, and if the paper feeding operation is based on the operation of the paper feeding button, discharge processing of paper sheets is performed (S12).
