PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical method for forming a cured coating film free from defects and having an excellent appearance and excellent coating film properties such as water resistance, and provide a coated article produced by the method. SOLUTION: The coating method comprises the coating of a substrate with a top-coating material composed of a water-based coating material containing water and a water-dispersible polyisocyanate composition (A) containing a polyisocyanate (P-1) and a vinyl polymer (P-2) having a nonionic group and curing the applied top-coating layer.
