PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified cutoff structure for a water way, which facilitates cutoff of the water way, and to provide a simplified cutoff method. SOLUTION: The simplified cutoff structure A for the water way is formed of a bar screen 1 set in the water way W, a cutoff plate 2 for ascending/ descending the bar screen 1, and guide portions (guide rails) 3 attached to bars 1a, 1a at both ends of the bar screen 1, for guiding ascent/descent of the cutoff plate 2.
