A method and a computer system is provided for computing and displaying a phase space relating the performance of a variable to its volatility in an intuitive and interactive way. This allows to compare the performances of different stock values and the development of the performance over time. Further, a sub-space of the phase space is determined corresponding to a certain probability threshold of the variables considered. <IMAGE>
