PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cutoff tape which can exhibit a sufficient water cutoff performance (water cutoff performance evaluated by an L-shape method and a T-shape method) even to water which is going to permeate a cable from its cut surface or outer peripheral surface. SOLUTION: The water cutoff tape which has a water absorbing layer 2 formed on water-absorbing resin particles and a rubber-based binder on the surface of a base 1 made of non-woven fabric is characterized by that a value [S2 ]/[S1 ] is <=0.6, where [S1 ] is the area sectioned with a luminance curve of 256 gradations obtained by binarizing an image of the surface of the base 1 photographed to a fixed actual visual field size and a straight line represented by luminance = 255 and [S2 ] is the area sectioned with a luminance curve of 256 gradations by binarizing an image of the surface of the water absorbing layer 2 photographed to the same actual visual field size and the straight line represented by luminance = 255. |
