PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt tension measuring device capable of accurately measuring the tension of a belt whether an engine is stopped or operated. SOLUTION: This belt tension measuring device is provided with a belt non-contact type optical displacement measuring means 3 for detecting vibration of a belt 1 stretched between pulleys 2 as a continuous waveform, a frequency calculating means 6 for calculating the frequency according to the detected continuous waveform data, and a tension calculating and determining means 7 for calculating the tension of the belt according to the calculated frequency data and determining whether the above tension is within a designated proper range or not.
