PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handle grip device in a straddle type vehicle for preventing an internal combustion engine from outputting a useless driving force when performing a steering operation by grasping a grip and when handling the vehicle. SOLUTION: This handle grip device 17 is provided with the grip 4 supported at the end part 3a of a handle pipe 3 so as to be reciprocatingly rotatable in directions of A and B toward one direction and an interlocking means 18 for interlocking and connecting a throttle valve 8 with the grip 4. The interlocking means 18 is provided with an actuator 19 for driving the throttle valve 8 to perform an opening/closing valve operation, a detection means 20 for detecting the rotational position of the grip 4 and outputting a detection signal, a control device 22 for controlling the drive of the actuator 19 so as to open the throttle valve 8 by a prescribed opening by inputting the detection signal of the detection means 20 and a resistance force addition means 44 for adding a resistance force to the rotation of the grip 4.
