PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent unevenness of gloss in an image on a recording material after fixing treatment and can acquire the uniform and beautiful fixing image, when a fixing device provided with a fixing body having an elastic layer with a thickness of 0 to 500 μm is adopted for the apparatus. SOLUTION: A pressure roller 201 has an elastic layer 108d with a thickness of 500 μm or more provided around an aluminum core bar 107d. The fixing device performs fixing treatment by carrying out first feeding of a recording material 105 in a fixing nip part so that a toner image 104 formed at one surface on the recording material 105 can be brought into contact with a fixing roller 203. A second operation mode is set to reverse front and back surfaces of the toner image 104 on the recording material 105 subjected to the fixing treatment so that the image 104 can be brought into contact with the pressure roller 201, and to perform second paper feeding of the recording material 105 in the fixing nip part 111 again. The toner image is not formed on the contact surface with the fixing roller 203 which is another surface of the recording material 105, when the second operation mode is carried out. |
