FACILITY FOR TEMPORARILY PRESS-FITTING WHEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate operations such as conveying and positioning wheels and axles and temporarily press-fitting the wheels, during the process of temporarily press fitting the wheels. SOLUTION: An axle 3 is conveyed to a temporary press fitting device 22 by use of an axle carrier 1. The axle 3 conveyed is supported by lifters 23a and 23b and positioned on a pressing centerline PL. Right and left wheels 11 are delivered to both ends 3a and 3b of the axle 3 by use of wheel delivery trucks 9a and 9b and are guided to the press heads 33a and 33b of the temporary press fitting device 22 via wheel guides 16a and 16b. The right and left wheels 11 guided are gripped by chuck devices 38 located on the front faces of the press heads and are each positioned on the centerline PL. Press-head mounting trucks 27a and 27b are advanced to predetermined positions and a press cylinder 36 is actuated to push out the press heads 33a and 33b to temporarily press-fit the right and left wheels 11 to the axle 3.
