PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque transmission characteristic in a plurality of stages in an elastic shaft coupling which couples two shafts coaxially arranged with a play in the rotational direction, and provide the elastic shaft coupling inexpen sive and hardly deflective. SOLUTION: An elastic body 11 is interposed between a cylindrical outer shaft 9 and an inner shaft 10 to be engaged with each other. A plurality of recessed grooves 12 axially extending on an inner periphery 9a of the outer shaft 9 are peripherally arranged in equal intervals. A projecting strip 13 on an outer periphery 10a of the inner shaft 10 is contained in each recessed groove 12 with a play in the rotational direction. The elastic body 11 is provided with a first portion and a second portion axially separated apart. For example, in a middle torque, side surface 13a of the projecting strip 13 compresses facing portions 18 of the second portion 15 adhered to inside surfaces 12a of the recessed groove 12. Engaging force is exerted to a peripherally interval positions of both shafts 9, 10, whereby the both shafts 9, 10 are not deflected.
