PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chemiluminescent composition which enables use of oxidation-sensitive pigments, dyestuffs and fluorescent substances for chemiluminescence though they have been considered to be unsuitable for chemiluminescence, and enables change of the chemiluminescence color with time. SOLUTION: The chemiluminescent composition comprises an antioxidant which functions to sustain the chemiluminescence of at least one of pigments, dyestuffs and fluorescent substances being labile to the oxidation by hydrogen peroxide in the reaction system where an oxalate compound and the hydrogen peroxide react in the presence of an organic solvent to bring about chemiluminescence; and at least one of oxidation-resistant pigments, dyestuffs and fluorescent substances which coexists to bring about chemiluminescence in the reaction system after the oxidation, causing the chemiluminescence color to change.
