PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous emulsion type epoxy-based adhesive capable of producing a wet-manufactured and cured fiber web requiring a short time for curing and excellent in solvent resistance and in nonhygroscopicity, and a method for processing such a cured fiber web. SOLUTION: The adhesive is made up of an aqueous emulsion prepared after three processes. In the 1st process, an epoxy prepolymer is generated through partial reaction between the primary amino group of an aromatic polyvalent amine compound and the epoxy group of a polyvalent epoxy compound. In the 2nd process, an organic carboxylate is generated of the epoxy prepolymer through reaction between the epoxy prepolymer, generated in the 1st process, and an organic monocarboxylic acid. In the 3rd process, an aqueous emulsion is prepared of the organic carboxylate generated in the 2nd process.
