PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type indicator capable of indicating time difference between a pointer and an index in a simple structure. SOLUTION: In this pointer type indicator, the pointer 20 is moved according to the measuring quantity to indicate the measuring quantity in cooperation with the index 11 such as a scale, digits, characters or symbols attached on a dial 10. The indicator is provided with a light source 41 for index disposed at the back of the dial 10 for brightening the index 11, a light source 42 for a designated position disposed at the back of the dial 10 for brightening an indicating part 21 only when the indicating part 21 of the pointer 20 indicates a designated position, a light guide member 50 for guiding light of the light source 41 for index to the pointer 20 for brightening the indicating part 21 for indicating outside the designated position, and a control means for lighting the light source 42 for index after the light source 42 for the designated position is lighted in switching the indicator body from the non-display state to the display state.
