A polyester beer bottle with a crystallised bottleneck

Disclosed is a polyester beer bottle which comprises a crystallised bottleneck, the crystallised portion of the bottleneck having a length in the range 0.5 to 35mm. The beer bottle is preferably made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material and is provided with a flanged ring wound its neck instead of a screw thread, the flanged ring having a plane bottom surface and upper surface at an angle of 45{ to the vertical. The bottle neck is crystallised in a method which involves heating the bottleneck in a crystalliser at high temperature.
