PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a rotary developing unit from becoming a large unbalanced load state due to the combination of the existence of a plurality of developing devices. SOLUTION: In the rotary developing unit and the imaging device equipped with the rotary developing unit, where several developing devices 1 to 4 having a developer carrier for carrying developer are disposed along the outer periphery of a cylinder and selectively rotated and moved to a developing position, so as to develop a latent image on a latent image carrier, regulation is performed so that the developing device, whose unbalanced load state after its loading/ unloading is minimum, is loaded/unloaded according to the loading state of the several developing devices 1 to 4. In the case of newly loading several developing devices in the rotary developing unit, the developing devices are successively loaded in a fixed rotating direction from the developing device, whose unbalanced load state is minimum the first. If the developing devices, whose unbalanced load state is minimum exist in several in number, the developing device on an upstream side in the rotating direction is prioritized, and a lock mechanism for rotating, moving, and loading the developing device at the loading position of the developing device is controlled. |
