PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can carry out a high-contrast display by preventing a contrast ratio from decreasing owing to the formation of no alignment film in an area in a shadow when an alignment film is formed by oblique vapor deposition. SOLUTION: One of a couple of substrates is equipped with a pixel electrode 9a, signal lines 3a, 3b, and 6a electrically connected to the pixel electrode 9a, and an alignment film 16 formed of an inorganic obliquely vapor-deposited film and also has a step H between the part where the signal lines 3a, 3b, and 6a are provided and the part where the signal lines 3a, 3b, and 6a are not provided; and a light shield film 23 is provided corresponding to the area in the shadow of the step H in the vapor-deposition direction E of the formation of the alignment film 16 by oblique vapor deposition or corresponding to the area of an edge part of a pixel which corresponds in the forward direction of the vapor deposition direction E of the formation of the alignment film 16 by oblique vapor deposition. |
