PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber sensor having both of a function as a light transmission path and a function as a sensor for detecting the environmental change of the outside and detecting various information from the transmission loss of light, and an optical fiber sensor system. SOLUTION: The optical sensor consists of a main line body comprising an optical fiber arranged as the light transmission path and a sensor element connected to the midway of the main line body and comprising a relatively short optical fiber having a core of which the diameter is different from that of the core of the main line body or having a refractive index different from that of the core of the main line body and a sensor substance is provided to the outer periphery of the sensor element. The optical fiber sensor system using the optical fiber sensor are also disclosed.
