PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that high pressure is applied on a guide surface for guiding a roller body and the guide surface is worn in a centrifugal variable diameter pulley for changing speed with the usage of centrifugal force of the roller body as an inertia member. SOLUTION: A power transmitting ring 6 engaged with a belt 7 is fastened between power transmitting surfaces 4 and 5 oppositely provided with respect to first and second pulley main bodies 2 and 3. A ball 27 as the roller body is accommodated in an accommodation space S having a wedge shaped cross section and formed between a holding member 24 fixed on a back surface 18 of the pulley main body 3 and a holding member 22 fixed on an opposite member 19 integrally rotating with the pulley main body 2. The holding members 22 and 24 are made of steel. The ball 27 is made of a material having smaller density than the steel and strength and wear resistance equal to or higher than the steel, such as ceramics.
