<p>Isoquinobenzodiazepine derivs. - CNS depressants, hypotensives, etc., prepd. from isoquinoline-carboxylic acids. Cpds. of formula: (where Y is CH2, CO or SO2; R1-R4 are H, halogen, lower alkyl, alkoxy or methylenedioxy) have CNS depressant activity and affect blood pressure and are used as sedatives, analgesics, antihistamines, tranquillisers, diuretics and hypotensives, and may be prepd. by reacting the corresp. tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid with the corresp. 2-(Y-X)-nitrobenzene (where Y is halogen) followed by reduction and cyclisation.</p> |
