Along the length of a moving strip of paper (1) a trace of adhesive (2) is applied. It is then folded to form a tubular shape and perforations (3) are provided across the width of the strip which, in subsequent production stages, enable it to be formed into bags. The stream of adhesive flowing from the application nozzle (4) is monitored by a light beam (6,7). The resultant signals are processed by a computer. |
