PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent invasion of coolant colliding with a workpiece or the like to be splashed into a housing 2 in a main spindle device 1 for a machine tool provided with a main spindle 3 rotatably supported in a support hole 2a in the housing 2. SOLUTION: A shielding plate 46 which is integrally rotated with a tip part of the main spindle 3 is disposed to face a tip surface of the housing 2 at an interval from it. A labyrinth part 48 is provided on the shielding plate 46 in the interval to the housing 2.
