PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an especially biodegradable cultivation container (bag for raising of seedling) which has a simple structure, is readily mass produced, can preserve and transport a large amount of seedlings even in a small storage space, has air permeability, can properly grow plant roots in a rearing period, has no use for a root winding operation, a container removal operation, requiring skill in transportation, transplantation, etc., and can extremely reduce such an operation labor and to provide a method for raising of seedling of plant and for raising a tree. SOLUTION: This bag for raising of seedling is obtained by making a thin film having a great number of bored fine pores 21 with 50μm-4 mm average pore diameter into a bag, has an opening at the top. Especially the thin film is a biodegradable film, the bag is provided with a gusset 24 at the bottom end or at both sides. When culture medium X is stored in the inside, the gusset 24 is expanded to form the bottom 26 and a bottomed cylindrical bag is obtained. This method for raising of seedling is characterized in that the stored culture medium X is used as a nursery bed, a seed of plant is sowed in the nursery bed X or a scion is subjected to cuttage to raise the seedling of the plant or raising a tree.
