<p>The saddle (1) lacks a boom and comprises a soft lower layer and hard upper layer which can be divided into cushions containing tunnels (4-7) for a nylon strap system (8) for attaching the webbing. A saddle for riding animals, especially horses, does not contain a boom and comprises a sandwich construction with a soft lower layer on the horse side and a hard upper layer on the rider side. The saddle can be divided into different cushions containing tunnels for a nylon strap system to which the webbing around the animals stomach can be attached. A length adjustment device is provided for the webbing. The stirrup strap with stirrups attached to either end is passed through an opening in the front part of the saddle.
