PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic brake for a small-sized bait reel capable of automatically preventing the bait reel from backlash, thus popularizing the bait reel so that anybody can make a fishing regardless of beginners or skilled persons. SOLUTION: This automatic brake for a bait reel has the scheme of surely controlling a backlash with brakes for low-speed use and high-speed use differing in vector from each other, and of instantaneously making these brakes interlock with each other, thus an automatic brake mechanism catches an instantaneous weak movement just after the fishline is slackened, thereby automatically controlling troubles due to such a backlash.
