PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tundish for continuous casting by which the suction of air is restrained at an ordinary pouring time, a high quality cast slab can be produced, and a pouring flow can surely be stopped even at an immergency when the pouring flow can not be controlled. SOLUTION: The tundish for continuous casting is provided with a stopper for controlling the pouring quantity of molten metal into a mold, a refractory having a structure, in which a specified portion in a pouring flow course passing the molten metal can be separated, and a closing plate for stopping the flow when the pouring quantity can not be controlled, so as to adjoin to this separatable portion. Relating to the separatable portion of the refractory in the pouring flow course, a fix-shaped seal material is used as a jointing material in this portion, and in the case of closing the pouring flow with the closing plate, the closing plate is shifted in the horizontal direction and simultaneously, the closing plate has the structure, in which a lower refractory among separatable refractories is pushed out, and when the closing plate is pushed out the lower refractory, the closing plate has the structure, in which the fix- shaped seal material fitted to the lower surface of an upper refractory is shaved out. |
