<p>Picolines from aldehyde and ammonia. alpha-and gamma-Picolines useful as intermediates for bactericides, coccidiostats and parasiticides and also for vinylpyridines for synthetic rubber and polymers, are prepd. by reacting NH3 and MeCHO inthe vapour phase in the presence of molten ZnCl2 or NH3 and opt. other activating agents. Reaction effected at 250-400 degrees c esp. 325-400 degrees C, passing 10-600 g./hr. reactants over 100 g. catalyst.</p> |
