PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently induce mutation in an organism by a simple operation. SOLUTION: Mutation is induced by making two or more DNA polymerases having different fidelities coexist in one cell, i.e., coexistence strategy. In the coexistence strategy, three among four DNA polymerases involved in genome replication are to be normal polymerase 23 that has a high fidelity and does not cause mutation, while the rest one is to be mutator polymerase 24 and cause four mutations 25 per one synthesis. By this strategy, a wild type having no mutation exists also in the third generation F3, and a mutant that appeared once in a population is conserved also in the following generation. |
