PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rat periodontal membrane cell line applicable to developing medicaments useful for dental diseases and the like through studying the function and/or properties of cells existing in the periodontal membrane. SOLUTION: This cell line derived from periodontal membrane and capable of maintaining subculture, e.g. osteoblast, cementoblast, osteoclast, fibroblast, can be established from transgenic rat transferred with a temperature-sensitive mutant SV40 large T antigen gene. This cell line derived from established periodontal membrane is applicable to the study of the interaction between various cells existing in the periodontal membrane, the development of medicaments for dental diseases including periodontosis and implant materials for the teeth and bones, etc., therefore being useful. |
