PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently oxidizing olefins using a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: Olefins are irradiated with light in the presence of a titanium dioxide catalyst and peroxide to be oxidized to form an oxidized product. Olefins may be oxidized in the coexistence of molecular oxygen. As the titanium dioxide catalyst, for example, a titanium dioxide catalyst containing at least rutile type titanium dioxide is included. As peroxide, hydrogen peroxide can be used. As irradiation light, ultraviolet rays or visible light can be used.
