PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and safe apparatus for suppressing alga for water tank with which pollutions of the water tank and water can be suppressed for a long time without staining an anode. SOLUTION: This apparatus is characterized by serially arranging an ohmmeter 5 and at most two dry cells 6 between the two electrodes 3 and 4 immersed into water 2 in the water tank 1 and using nickel as a material of at least the anode 3 of the electrodes 3 and 4. This apparatus keeps a transparency of water, preventing the water tank from being polluted for a long period and sustains cleanliness because the apparatus has high effects suppressing overgrowth of the alga and scarcely causes the stain of the anode by oxidation thereof.
