PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a seedling transplanter and a method for transplanting seedlings by which multiple row planting can be carried out in a narrow interrow space and the multiple row planting of at least >=5 rows can readily and efficiently be performed without changing respective left and right intervals of left and right travel propelling bodies and left and right seedling planting parts. SOLUTION: This seedling transplanter is characterized as satisfying the following requirements. At least two seedling planting parts 1Bl and 1Br are provided and installed side by side in the left and the right directions. The left and the right interval of the seedling planting positions of the left and the right seedling planting parts 1Bl and 1Br is set at 23 times expressed in terms of times of an integer of the planting interrow space W. The left and right relationship of the left and the right traveling propelling bodies and the left and the right seedling planting parts is composed so that the position can be changed by the planting interrow space without changing the left and the right interval of the left and the right propelling bodies and the left and the right interval of the left and the right seedling planting parts. The left and the right seedling planting parts are set at relational positions striding over the center between the left and the right propelling bodies.
