Powdered fat preparation comprising 75-30 wt.% of a hard or hardened natural fat, 10-50 wt.% of a digestible emulsifier comprising a mixture of partially saponified natural fats contg. monoglycerides, fatty acids and fatty acid salts molecularly dispersed in fat, and 15-20 wt.% of a carrier comprising submicroscopically divided silicate acid. The emulsifier is pref. made by partial hydrolysis of the fat of the main feed (e.g. hydrogenated vegetable oils or animal fats) with NaOH soln. in a solvent such as propanol, and addition of HCl or H3PO4 to give a mixt. of glycerides, fatty acids and their Na salts, and NaCl and/or Na3PO4. Preferred carrier is Aerosil (RTM). The product is a concentrated, dry powder animal feed which is easily mixed with other feeds for intensive feeding in meat production. |
